TO STYLUS
Our adventure begins with an
intelligent departure to the dawn of a magnificent day of
end spring. Final destination "Stings Stylus in Calabria".
You our pseudo-intelligent departure sees bottles us in the
chaos of the traffic of the link ring finger with the result

to the airport of Fiumicino. We arrive as soon as in time,

Alfina and Mario wait us and they welcome us with a brotherly
embrace. Systematized the baggages we are ready to depart.
As for every new destination, we look around at there doubtful
and we are anxious to be able to reach destination to let
us go to the comforting embrace of a sea that so much we love.
Mario and Alfina during the trip speak to us of Stylus and
of their diving center. This zone of Calabria has immediately
made us a good impression: it is rich of greens valleys surmounted
by tall tops to peak on a blue sea. They warn us that we are
arriving, we are to Point Stylus and with surprise we begin
to climb and later around 10 minutes we have arrived. The
Diving is found to Stylus, around 400 meters away from the

place, from Stylus to Scilla, crossing both coasts and mountains.
We have still admired the wealths of an uncontaminated sea
where superb varied forms of life triumph but also rich of
historical finds. Because' to choose Calabria? The increasing
interest for this earth to our days and' the answer to the
bossy need of escape of the modern man. Escape from the great
and crowded urban agglomerations, from a routine of environment
and life, from the noises, pollutions, from the stress of
the convulsive life and more and more' distant from the nature.
This part of Calabria has immediately established with my
group a full and immediate contact, offering us its treasures
jealously guarded: quiet and silence, cordiality, myths and
mysteries, a sea blue rich cobalt of colors, the ancient wisdom
and the sense of the hospitality of their inhabitants and
in particular way of our guests. Many are the present places
of cult in Calabria as many they are still the uncontaminated
sanctuaries, sets in naturalistic places of exceptional and
rare beauty, in which the nature and the quiet reign sovereign.
Calabria is earth of faith and meeting among different cultures;
every gesture, tied up to the traditions of the past, it becomes
flushed of solemn spirituality, so that to let to the visitor
that leans out on that marvelous world that I/you/they are
the popular and religious traditions an instant of past and
a bath in the most intense emotions to relive that this edge
of earth knows how to give". A vacation to Point Stylus
in the Diving Center of Mario and Alfina, the first Diving
that moves him that I have had the pleasure to visit, it represents
him a pleasant underwater vacation but a precious occasion
to fortify the spirit the body and to surrender him to the
charm of an earth from the millennial history. A thanks to
Mario and Alfina, extraordinary people, beautiful inside.
They have succeeded in making possible and to organize a "Diving
Itinerante", I think the only one of Italy, and to manage
the all with perfect organization and efficiency, without
nothing to neglect. Have they succeeded, despite the so many
Kms, our vacation to make not only pleasant and comforting
from the underwater point of view, but also from the tourist
and gastronomic point of view and because' no?… Also spiritual.
I close this brief story with a written sentence Edwar Lear
in the "Diary of a trip afoot" (1847) so it describes
Stylus: "... there was light enough to glimpse the general
aspect that promised to be very picturesque; situated really
under perpendicular precipices, and built above a kind of
terrace to amphitheater, the rocks they rose to every extremity
with the picturesque churches and convents,... it seems to
us that there am more evidence of cleaning and maintenance
in the roads that in any other place of Calabria from where
we are passed, and there was an air that gave an orderly and
clear feeling more than every other place visited in Italy,
that has caught us till now, being Stylus so remote from the
