TAP ONE,
IN THAT SILENCE, GIVES THE SHUDDERS
We arrive at the sea and 'late
afternoon. And 'the second time in a few days that I dive
in these waters, before the remains of' Old Kaulon now surmounted
by the Stilo lighthouse. To do so I gave an 'other diving,
I know' why '. The magic of the place strikes me again as
we begin to swim from the shore and immerse ourselves in a
few meters' water. 'S full immersion and' never deep. Ionian
surrounds me with its deep blue, its transparency, its silence,
its peace. It seems impossible that more 'than 2,700 years
ago in these waters has shot down a tidal wave of unprecedented
violence, able to overwhelm and drag with it houses, men,
animals, and an entire temple ... The Temple where, according
to friends Mario and finally, were the Bronze Statues. Violence
and that 'repeated several' times throughout history, because
the regular periodic earthquakes of this part of Italy '...
Swim for a few minutes and here is the temple, or at least
what's left: In front of us, slowly emerging from the blue
drums of its columns, segments more 'than 800 kg, scattered
here and there' on the sandy bottom ... we approach. Tap one,
in that silence, puts chills, and my companions' diving turn
in my mind so many faithful who came to witness their devotion.
We hover in midwater, with no weight and filled with wonder.
The sacredness 'of the place and' tangible, the sea seems
to have preserved intact the force. We continue to swim in
a surreal landscape. An octopus is left to take and stroke,
while little more 'in the' a parrot fish seems to sleep between
the rocks, a clear sign of the gradual warming of the sea.
And indeed the sea this evening and 'soft warm "liquid"
and we rock tenderly as a mother. Bewitched, vagabonds subt
'water for more' than an hour before re-emerging, and it is
evening. We're not the same people who are immersed, something
within us, and 'changed. And before our eyes dreamy, twilight
embraces this sea of peace, while the Lighthouse sheds its
light around. Giuseppe Alvaro (CH)
